Transport
Last updated: 2026-03-29
Overview
The Transport module allows you to manage and maintain a registry of vehicles or transport services available at your healthcare facility. This includes ambulances, medical shuttles, and patient transfer vehicles used to move patients or medical supplies safely.
When Do I Use This?
- When adding a newly purchased ambulance or shuttle to your hospital's fleet.
- When recording specific dispatch or billing codes for different transport options.
- When taking a vehicle out of service for maintenance or retirement so staff know it is unavailable.
How To Use
Adding a New Transport
- Go to Transport from the main menu.
- Click + New to open a blank form.
- Enter the Name of the vehicle or service (e.g., "Ambulance 1" or "North Wing Shuttle").
- Provide a unique Code for dispatching or internal tracking.
- Write down any helpful details in the Description.
- Ensure the Active box is checked so staff can select it.
- Click Save.
Deactivating a Transport
If a vehicle breaks down or is permanently retired, you should deactivate it rather than delete it. This keeps your past records accurate.
- Find and click on the transport record from the main list.
- Uncheck the Active box.
- Click Save.
Field Descriptions
| Field Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The common name or title of the transport vehicle (e.g., "Basic Life Support Van", "Ambulance A"). |
| Code | A short, unique identifier used by dispatch or billing (e.g., "AMB-01", "SHUTTLE-B"). |
| Active | A checkbox that determines if the transport is currently available. Uncheck this if the vehicle is out of service. |
| Description | Extra details about the vehicle, such as its equipment level, parking location, or capacity. |
Tip: Always use a consistent format for your Code field (like putting "AMB-" before all ambulances). This makes searching and generating reports much easier for your team!
