Icu
Last updated: 2026-03-29
Overview
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) module helps you manage patients currently admitted to critical care. A major feature of this module is the ability to track and monitor a patient's neurological status over time using the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS).
When Do I Use This?
- When a patient is admitted or transferred to the Intensive Care Unit.
- During routine rounding when nurses or doctors need to record standard neurological assessments (GCS checks).
- When you need to review a patient's historical consciousness levels over the course of their ICU stay.
How To Use
1. Creating an ICU Patient Record
- Navigate to the ICU module from the main menu.
- Click + New to create a new record.
- Select the Patient from the dropdown list.
- Add any general admission or handover details in the Note field.
- Click Save.
2. Adding a GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale) Reading
Once an ICU record is created, you can log multiple GCS readings over time within the patient's record.
- Open the patient's existing ICU record.
- Scroll down to the GCS (Details) section.
- Click + Add to log a new reading.
- Enter the Reading Time (when the assessment was actually performed).
- Select the appropriate responses for Eye, Verbal, and Motor.
- Add any clinical Notes specific to this reading.
- Click Save. The system will automatically calculate the total score.
