Radiology Templates Overview
The Radiology Templates module allows you to create and store pre-written text for medical imaging reports (like X-Rays, MRIs, CT Scans, and Ultrasounds). By setting up standard templates, your radiologists and doctors can quickly generate reports for common findings without having to type everything from scratch.
When Do I Use This?
- When you want to create a standard "Normal" report for a specific exam (e.g., "Normal Chest X-Ray").
- When you need to store standard medical disclaimers or formatting that should be included in certain types of scans.
- When setting up a folder structure to organize templates by department or imaging type (e.g., grouping all Ultrasound templates together).
How To Use
Creating a New Radiology Template
- Navigate to your Radiology module and select Templates from the menu.
- Click the + New button.
- Enter a descriptive Name (e.g., "Standard MRI Knee").
- If you use a specific short-hand or abbreviation, enter it in the Code field.
- Type out the standard findings, impressions, and notes in the large Body text box.
- Click Save to make the template available to your staff.
Organizing Templates into Folders
You can keep your templates tidy by creating "Parent" templates that act like folders.
- Create a new template and name it after a category (e.g., "CT Scans"). Leave the body empty and save.
- When creating an actual template (e.g., "Head CT"), select "CT Scans" in the Parent field.
Field Descriptions
| Field Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The title of the template. Make this clear so doctors know exactly what the template is for (e.g., "Ultrasound Pelvis - Normal"). |
| Code | A short abbreviation or internal code for the template (e.g., "US-PEL-N"). |
| Parent | The category or folder this template belongs to. Useful for grouping similar templates together. |
| Active | Check this box to make the template available for use. Uncheck it if the template is outdated or no longer used by the clinic. |
| Body | The main text area where you type out the actual medical report content. This is what gets pasted into the patient's record when the template is used. |
Tip: Include blank spaces or brackets like "[ ]" in your Body text to indicate where the radiologist needs to fill in specific measurements or patient-specific details.
