Radiology Examinations

The Examination module allows you to manage the complete catalog of radiology procedures (like X-Rays, MRIs, and CT scans) performed at your facility. It links each procedure to specific equipment types and allows you to set up standard "Normal" reporting templates (macros) to help radiologists write their reports much faster.

When Do I Use This?

  • When your clinic starts offering a new type of imaging scan and you need to add it to the system.
  • When you need to map your internal procedures to standardized medical codes (LOINC).
  • When you want to automatically generate standard baseline templates so radiologists don't have to type common reports from scratch.

How To Use

Adding a New Radiology Examination

  1. Navigate to the Radiology → Examination module from your main menu.
  2. Click + New to create a new record.
  3. Fill in the Name (e.g., "Chest X-Ray PA/Lat") and the internal Code.
  4. Select the Required Type (the modality, such as General Radiology, MRI, etc.).
  5. If you have a standard macro ready, link it in the Template field.
  6. Click Save.

Auto-Generating Reporting Templates (AI Assisted)

If you have many examinations without reporting templates, the system's built-in Medical AI can automatically write standard "Normal" templates for you.

  1. Go to the Examination list screen.
  2. Click the Build Templates button.
  3. The system will display a message that the generation has started in the background.
  4. The AI will securely write a formatted baseline template (including standard placeholders like [___] cm) for every active exam that doesn't already have one.

Field Descriptions

Field Name Description
Name The clinical name of the procedure (e.g., "CT Abdomen and Pelvis").
Code Your clinic's internal short code or billing code for this exam.
LOINC The standardized universal medical code for this specific procedure. Useful for integrating with outside hospitals or labs.
Serial A number used to control the sorting order of exams in drop-down menus.
Template The default reporting macro the radiologist will see when they begin writing a report for this exam.
Required Type The category or modality required to perform this scan (e.g., Ultrasound, X-Ray, MRI).
Active Check this box if the examination is currently offered. Uncheck it to hide obsolete procedures without deleting their historical records.
Tip: The Build Templates tool runs in the background to prevent your screen from freezing, as generating medical templates takes time. It processes roughly one template per minute to ensure high quality. Check back in a little while to review your newly generated radiologist macros!
