Radiology Reports
The Radiology Reports module is where clinical staff and Radiologists review imaging studies, draft findings, and officially sign off on results. The system is designed to save you time by automatically pulling in patient data, attaching clinical image thumbnails, and even utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to draft the initial report based on the technologist's findings.
When Do I Use This?
- When a Radiologist needs to read an imaging study (like an X-Ray, MRI, or CT scan) and provide a formal diagnosis.
- When you need to review and edit an AI-generated draft of patient findings.
- When finalizing and legally signing a report so the requesting doctor can view the results.
- When you need to print a completed radiology report that includes embedded key images.
How To Use
1. Generating a New Report
Reports are usually generated directly from the patient's original Radiology Request.
- Open the patient's specific Radiology Request.
- Click the Create Report option.
- The system will process the request. If clinical findings or impressions were already entered into the system, an AI assistant will automatically draft the written report for you. It will also attach any relevant clinical images to the bottom of the page.
2. Reviewing and Editing the Report
Before a report is finalized, it must be reviewed for accuracy.
- Open the newly generated Report.
- Review the text in the Body field. You can type, format, and delete text just like a standard word processor.
- If the imaging study was updated or you need to start over, you can click Update Report to regenerate the initial draft. Note: Doing this will remove any existing signature.
- Click Save when you are done making edits.
3. Signing the Report
Signing a report finalizes it and makes it officially available to the requesting physician.
- Open a draft report that you are ready to finalize.
- Click the Report Sign option.
- The system will lock the report, mark you as the signer, and automatically attach the finished document back to the original Request.
Field Descriptions
Report Details
| Field Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Serial | The unique identification number for this specific report (e.g., RIS/REP/123). |
| Request | The original imaging order that this report belongs to. |
| State | The current workflow status of the report (e.g., Draft, Pending Review, Final). |
| Body | The main text area of the report. This is a rich-text field where you can format your diagnosis and findings. |
| Generated | A system check that indicates if the AI and auto-templates successfully built the initial document. (Read-only) |
| Signed | Indicates whether the report has been officially finalized. (Read-only) |
| Signed By | The name of the user (Radiologist) who approved and finalized the report. (Read-only) |
Report States (Workflow Stages)
Your system administrator can define custom stages for your reports. If you are managing these states, the fields are:
| Field Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Name / Code | The title and short code for the status (e.g., "Draft", "DRF"). |
| Color | The color tag used to highlight this status on your dashboard so you can quickly spot priority items. |
| Active | Determines if this status is currently being used by the clinic. |
| Description | A brief explanation of what this state means for the workflow. |
Tip: Always double-check AI-generated drafts! While the AI is highly capable of formatting findings and impressions into a clean document, the finalizing physician is ultimately responsible for ensuring the diagnosis is 100% accurate before clicking Report Sign.
Note for Printing: When you print a report, the system automatically uses a structured layout (combining standard clinic headers, your written text, embedded image thumbnails, and footers). You do not need to manually paste images into the text box.
