Lab Instructions
This module allows you to create and manage standard instructions for laboratory tests and medical procedures. These instructions detail exactly what a patient or staff member needs to do before, during, or after a specific lab test.
When Do I Use This?
- When your clinic or lab introduces a new test that requires specific patient preparation (e.g., fasting for 12 hours).
- When you need to update existing test guidelines based on new medical standards or lab requirements.
- When you want to standardize the instructions given by receptionists and nurses to ensure patients receive consistent and accurate information.
How To Use

- Click Save.

- Find the instruction in the list and click to open it.
- Update the Description with the new requirements.
- Click Save.
Field Descriptions
| Field Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The clear, readable title of the instruction (e.g., "Ultrasound - Full Bladder", "12-Hour Fasting"). |
| Code | A short abbreviation used by the system for quick data entry and reporting (e.g., "FAST-12", "US-BLADDER"). |
| Description | The complete, detailed instructions. This is the exact information the patient or staff must follow. |
| Active | Indicates if this instruction is currently in use. Uncheck this box to hide outdated instructions from staff instead of deleting them. |
Tip: Always write the Description in simple, patient-friendly language. These instructions are often printed on patient forms or read aloud by the reception desk!
