Temperature Storage
This module allows you to define standard temperature conditions used for storing lab samples, medications, or inventory. By setting these up, you ensure that items are safely kept under the right conditions (such as "Refrigerated", "Frozen", or "Room Temperature").
When Do I Use This?
- When your clinic or lab needs a new storage category (e.g., adding an "Ultra-Low Freezer" requirement).
- When setting up new lab tests or medications in the system that require specific handling instructions.
- When updating standard operating procedures for sample storage.
How To Use
Adding a New Temperature Setting
- Navigate to the Temperature module from the main laboratory or settings menu.
- Click the + New button.
- Enter a clear Name (e.g., "Refrigerated").
- Provide a short Code (e.g., "REF").
- Add any important handling details in the Description.
- Click Save.
Deactivating an Old Setting
If you no longer use a specific storage condition, you can hide it from the rest of the system without deleting past records.
- Open the temperature setting you want to hide.
- Uncheck the Active box.
- Click Save.
Field Descriptions
| Field Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The full, recognizable name of the temperature condition (e.g., "Frozen", "Room Temperature"). |
| Code | A short abbreviation used for quick reference or printing on small sample labels (e.g., "FRZ", "RT"). |
| Active | Determines if staff can select this temperature for new items. Uncheck this to retire the setting. |
| Description | Additional instructions or specific ranges. This is a great place to put exact temperatures (e.g., "Keep between 2°C and 8°C"). |
Tip: Always include the exact acceptable degree range (like "2°C to 8°C") in either the Name or Description field so staff don't have to guess the correct storage limits.
