Lab Analyzers
This module allows you to register and manage your laboratory equipment (analyzers) within the system. By recording your machines here, the system knows exactly which equipment is available to process lab tests, where it is located, and how to communicate with it over the network.
When Do I Use This?
- When your laboratory purchases or installs a new testing machine.
- When you need to update a machine's network address after an IT change.
- When you are taking a machine out of service for maintenance or retirement.
How To Use
Adding a New Analyzer
- Go to the Laboratory or Health section from the main menu and select Analyzers.
- Click + New to register a new machine.
- Enter the Name and a unique Code for the equipment.
- If the machine connects to the system automatically, enter its Host address (provided by IT).
- Select the Warehouse (location or department) where this machine is placed.
- Click Save to register the machine.
Taking an Analyzer Offline
If a machine is broken or undergoing maintenance, you should mark it as inactive so tests aren't routed to it.
- Open the analyzer record from your list.
- Uncheck the Active box.
- Click Save.
Field Descriptions
| Field Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The full name or model of the machine (e.g., "Hematology Auto-Analyzer X100"). |
| Code | A short, unique identifier or asset tag for the machine (e.g., "HEMA-01"). |
| Host | The network IP address or hostname used to connect the machine to the system (e.g., "192.168.1.50"). Your IT department will usually provide this. |
| Warehouse | The specific lab, department, or location where the machine is physically located and where its supplies (reagents) are drawn from. |
| Active | Checked means the machine is operational and ready to receive tests. Uncheck this if the machine is down for maintenance or no longer in use. |
| Description | Any extra notes about the machine, such as the serial number, vendor contact details, or specific capabilities. |
Tip: Never delete an old analyzer if it has been used for past tests, as this can affect historical records. Instead, simply uncheck the Active box to hide it from daily use.
